Hi, I’m Karen!
Leadership and Personal &
Professional Development Coach
When I passed my NCLEX 20 years ago, I could never have predicted the adventure that awaited me.
I thought I’d be an ER nurse forever, but after 4 years I found myself ready to move on. So…I took a deep breath and stepped into the unknown. Since then, my career has made one unexpected turn after another as I’ve followed interests, taken big leaps, embraced my creativity, and pursued exciting opportunities.
I’ve had incredible opportunities to use my skills and experience for everything from saving lives in a war zone to helping lead healthcare organizations to supporting inventors in licensing their products to coaching leaders and entrepreneurs.
Along the way, I’ve collected a couple of degrees, invented and patented a product, written and published a few articles, hiked hundreds of miles with Abby the dog, and consumed a delightful amount of Ben & Jerry’s.
I’m inspired by the brilliance, creativity, and solutions people like you are bringing into the world, and I believe everyone deserves to be supported and championed in their dreams and efforts. I’m convinced that coaching is one of the most effective tools available to us, and I’m committed to helping you excel and thrive.
In my career I’ve…
Studied Executive & Professional Coaching at UT Dallas;
Become an inventor and a published writer;
Helped other inventors get their products onto store shelves;
Started my own company and earned an MBA;
Deployed to Iraq as a combat trauma nurse;
Served as Director of Nursing for a primary care system;
Managed a walk-in customer service center for a health insurance company;
Invested thousands of hours into my personal & professional development;
Learned, taught, shared, mentored, and coached;

I Believe…
- Getting it right is more important than being right (borrowed from Brené Brown)
- Kindness and compassion are acts of strength. Admitting when we’re wrong is admirable. Genuine apologies are brave.
- We can treat one another with kindness and respect AND hold each other appropriately accountable for actions and behaviors. Both are possible.
